  Build Manual
Posted by: kinnin25 - 07-24-2006, 05:20 AM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (2)

Question to builders; How do you find the build manual? Is it detailed enough and take you through the build process or simply a series of drawings. I would like to build a mosquito XE and have good build skills but am not great at just reading blue prints.
Any comments would be great.
Thanks

  turbines and fourstrokes
Posted by: turbo2 - 07-23-2006, 03:52 PM - Forum: Fuel and Engine - Replies (6)

I'm new to the site and discussions, but have been following the Mosquito since I first
heard of it. Have a velocityxlrg and a bd4. solo'd in jet rangers while in the Navy.
Would love to have a helo next, but that is still under some practicality
discussions with the mrs. While googleing various engines (turbine discussion) found an
interesting thread which seems very important. would like others to read and comment.

http://www.provide.net/~pratt1/ambuil...

I was looking forward to the helicycle, and have the stuff and videos downloaded,
but was rather dismayed a few years ago when the inventor was killed in it for
reasons that I'm not yet clear on (some kind of failure? don't believe it was a wire strike again.)
Don't want to get into issues like the Mini 500 had. May retire on an offshore island spot
and WOULD ABSOLUTELY LOVE to have an xel to spend my days playing around in.
Diesel, jet A , and kerosene are much cheaper than gas/av-gaswhere I'm going
and a turbine would be awesome, but needs to be absolutely reliable, or they'll
never find me when I don't come back. Hows the 4str/new zealand motor coming along?

  Time Building
Posted by: sdw - 07-18-2006, 09:11 PM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (2)

Does anyone have comments about time building in an experimental helicopter such as the XE. Looking at flight training options and was curious what most employers would think about 500hrs in a helicopter such as the XE or XEL. Thx!

  A Chopper is born

Discovery channel ran a show called "A Chopper is born", where Mark Evans built a Rotoway helicopter .I would love to see you do something like that with the Mosquito .A series from start to finish from the box to the air. A full how to do this could be done on DVD or online.

  Hired help in the States???
Posted by: tmls14915 - 07-06-2006, 03:53 AM - Forum: Shipping - Replies (2)

John,

Have you though of or given any consideration of outsourcing certified Mosquito builders to complete and test the line up for customers in the states in different areas of the states? Maybe have something along the lines of a Mosquito dealer.
Building your own Mosquito would no doubt be a sence of pride and accomplishement, however most folks do not have the time even as a weekend project to build thier helicopter and may get frustrated and give up.
A completed Mosquito I think would promote more sales and if options were offered like training and possibly finnancing the face value factor could play a major roll.
From what I can tell this is a great and safe product and could change the way we look at daily transportation for the lower/middle class population. As well as giving the gift of flight that most of us only dream of.

Thanks.
