looks like he over-rotated the flare at the end of the auto. and if he knew there were bad crimps and assembly errors, why was he flying it? Is he blaming the factory, or an anonymous builder? It's my understanding that the factory will only build an XEL, but not a 285.

After the accident he did an inspection to discover what caused the engine to quit, it was then that he discovered the issues. The factory will build the 285 also for an additional cost.

The factory will not build a 285, because it is not an ultralight, and must be certificated. The factory is not in the business of building and selling certificated aircraft, only kits. Same for XE and XET.
